Patrick Jablonski: Bio

Patrick Jablonski, born 1963, has been photographing the landscape using traditional black and white materials for 30 years.

Originally from the East Coast, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography from The Pennsylvania State University in 1986.
For the following 5 years, Patrick worked in the field of commercial photography in Washington DC as a means to support and pursue his own personal photographic work in the landscape.

In 1991, he was invited by internationally known photographer John Sexton to become his photographic assistant and relocated to California’s Monterey Peninsula; a position he held for 5 years. During his time with Mr. Sexton, he came to know photographer Morley Baer and assisted Mr. Baer from 1993 until his passing in 1995. Over the years he has also provided assistance to other iconic photographers such as Ruth Bernhard, William Giles, Henry Gilpin, Bruce Haley, Philip Hyde, Ray McSavaney, and John Wimberly, on either personal projects or workshops.

Patrick has distilled his experiences with Baer and Sexton into his own personal view of the landscape; carving out his personal vision under the spectre of strong influence in a heavily populated genre. Working with 4x5 and an 8x10 view cameras, his photographs reflect his relationship with Light and its spiritual values that Patrick feels exhilarate the land and connect us all to the greater universe.
In addition to pursuing his own photography, Patrick has taught for The John Sexton Photography Workshops and teaches group and private workshops for The Ansel Adams Gallery. He has been an instructor of fine art photography at Carmel High School and Monterey Peninsula College, and also offers photographic restoration services to collectors and galleries.

Patrick provided printmaking and consultation services to The Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust from 1995 to 2002 and to
The Morley Baer Family Trust from 1995 to 2003, by printing the negatives of these great masters for reproduction in books, magazines, calendars and other printed media. Patrick has also provided photographic consultation and conservation services to The Wynn Bullock Photographic Trust since 1995.

Patrick has been represented by The Ansel Adams Gallery since 1993, and by The Levin Gallery since 2012.
His work can also be found in collections throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.
